Adsnse Click Fraud

If you're using AdWords or AdSense you must have heard about an emerging practice in the underworld of computing called "click fraud". But what exactly is click fraud and how is it accomplished?

Well AdSense uses a payment mechanism that awards a certain amount of money to a publisher (someone who holds an AdSense banner on their page) every time a person clicks on the said banner. So click fraud is the attempt to have people clicking the ads just so that they can earn a greater income.

There are people setting up sites for the sole purpose of fraudulently generating revenue through Google's AdSense program. These users achieve an incredible number of clicks through many methods, some complex and sophisticated and some rudimentary and simple.

One of the most complex is through the use of so called "hitbots". These are automated programs who emulate clicking the links in AdSense banners (there are some that actually click the banners as well).

Google's AdSense protection scheme is by no means perfect and nearly anyone can find the details of surmounting the protection mechanism, ironically just by doing a Google search.

Another, more rudimentary method is to hire a lot of people in a poor country to click the links on your site. This means these people will actually sit all day and just click links so you can earn a fortune. They come from very poor countries like India, and they're prepared to do so for just $0.50 an hour.

Of course, there's a problem with this mechanism. Once Google receives a large number of clicks from a single address, the address and the site that had the AdSense banner will be banned, and the illicit behavior might even get the fraudster sued.

To prevent this from happening, many people use a large number of proxy servers for the purpose of clicking. These are basically trojans, located on computers throughout the world (though mostly in the US). What's even more daunting is that these clicks will appear to originate from an actual computer so such scams are really hard to detect.

And don't think this happens only in isolated instances. There is a great deal of illegal activity in this domain.

In fact there's so much that if search engine companies don't increase their security with such programs as AdSense, such criminal behavior could become more become even more damaging.

Google has a very strict policy regarding click fraud, and it has sued those employing such techniques in the past. But while the search engine giant tries its best to minimize the risk of click fraud there's certainly room for a lot of improvement.

It is estimated that more then 20% of the clicks that follow an AdSense link are just done in order to get money from the person paying for the ad. Some people believe the number of fraudulent clicks to be even twice as large.

There are a great deal more schemes involving click fraud, such as groups of AdSense publishers clicking each other's links (which is referred to as "clicking rings", or spamming people so that they click such links.

Despite Google still holding click fraud on a leash, the phenomenon is certainly raising concerns for the advertisers on AdWords, but despite this advertising with Google's AdSense still remains more profitable for the advertiser, as opposed to traditional untargeted advertising schemes.

There are some means of protection against such schemes and all advertisers should be savvy enough to employ them. Many advertisers choose to avoid the content network all together for fear of click fraud.

How To Improve Your Adsense Income

Google Adsense is one of the best ways to make money on your website. Many webmasters find it very hard to earn some money with their website while others are earning hundreds of dollars a day just by having Google Adsense ads on their sites. Setting up a site and placing the ads onto it is not quite enough to be earning, you need to fully optimize your website and Adsense ads for your income to reach its highest potential.

It is remarkable how by tweaking your website can increase your income significantly. Here are some tips on how to optimize your website and improve your Adsense earnings:

1. The format of Adsense ad that you use can make a major difference to the number of clicks you receive. The one ad that has shown to perform the best is the Large Rectangle (336X280). The large rectangle has the tendency to result in higher click-through rates. Why choose this format out of the many you can use? Basically because the ads will look like normal web links, and people, being used to clicking on them, click these types of links. As your main goal is to have as many clicks as you possibly can, then it is best to use this ad block to get those clicks.

2. The color you choose for your ads can also make a huge difference to the number of clicks you will receive. It is best if you set the background of your ad to blend with the background color of your site.

Also if you set your ad border colour to the same as the background color then the border won’t show which makes the ad blend better to your site content.

Have the title color the same color as the headings on your website. Doing these three things will make your Adsense ads blend into your site and appear more like part of your content and own links rather than obvious ads. This will result in more clicks from your visitors.

3. More people will see the top of your page than the bottom of your page, as not everyone stays at a site long enough to scroll to the bottom, so try to have as much Adsense as you can near the top of your page without overdoing it.

Just by moving your ads from the bottom of your page up to the top can make an amazing difference to your Adsense income. Also having some ads near the navigation bar is a great idea as the navigation bar is one part of the page that almost always gets looked at.

4. The use of relevant keywords throughout the content of your website is extremely important. You will be favoured by the search engines and gain a good page ranking if your site is optimized well with good quality keywords. The higher your page ranking the more visitors you will receive to your website.

5. To receive enough clicks on your ads to earn a good income, you need to drive heaps of traffic to your website. Do your homework on the different ways to drive traffic to your site and use all of them. The more visitors you get the more clicks you get and ultimately the more money you will make.

These are just a few of the tips that have worked very well for many people who are now earning hundreds and even thousands of dollars through Google Adsense.

It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.

If these tips can work wonders for many people then they are bound to help you out with your Adsense income too. Give them a go and see how much your Adsense earnings increase.

Pay Per Click Advertising

11:49 AM by Niramit Soonthawong · 0 comments
Labels:
Advertising your services or products on the Internet is
both extremely effective and extremely competitive. There
are several ways to go about attracting traffic to your
website; Pay-Per-Click is one of the options you can choose
from, along with developing an SEO, or search engine
optimization campaign. Both pay-per-click and SEO are
targeted to get your website placed as close to the top of
search engine results as possible. One of the differences
is that it takes minutes to set up a pay-per-click campaign
versus months for a good SEO campaign.

Pay-Per-Click is a simple type of paid advertising that
most search engines, including some of the largest ones,
now offer. It requires a bid for a "per-click" basis, which
translates to your company paying the bid amount every time
the search engine directs a visitor to your site. There is
the added bonus that when a per-click site sends your
website traffic, your site often appears in the results of
other prevalent search engines.

As with all marketing campaigns, there are advantages and
disadvantages. If you understand the process and monitor
your pay-per-click campaign frequently, it can be very
effective. One of the greatest advantages is that you never
have to tweak your web pages to change your position in
search engine results, as you must do in a typical SEO
campaign. What you do have to do in a pay-per-click
campaign is pay a fee.

Another advantage is the simplicity of the pay-per-click
process. You just bid and you're up and running. It doesn't
demand any specific technical knowledge, though the more
you know about search engines and keywords, the easier -
and more effective - the process will be.

The downside is that pay-per-click is essentially a bidding
war. A higher bid than yours will lower your position on
search engine results. This means that you will have to
raise your bid to regain your position - which can
obviously become quite expensive, especially if you are
bidding on a popular keyword.

In order to determine if pay-per-click is a cost effective
form of marketing for your business, you must do some
computing to figure out how much each visitor to your site
is worth. You can compute this value by dividing the profit
you make on your website over a given period of time by the
total number of visitors for that same time period. For
example, if your site made $5,000 in profits and there were
2,5000 hits, each visitor would be theoretically worth 50
cents. The basic formula is profits divided by visitors.

The figure of 50 cents per visitor is the point at which
your business breaks even. The idea, of course, is to show
a profit, not to merely cover your costs. Therefore, you
are aiming at a figure less than 50 cents per click.

Be aware that the most popular keywords often cost
considerably more than 50 cents a click. The only way
around this is to bid less for these phrases or you will be
paying too much for each individual hit.

The key (pun intended) to success is to learn everything
you can about search engine keyword research. The good news
is there isn't a limit to the amount of keywords you can
add to your bid because additional keywords do not add
additional cost. This translates into a lot less hassle for
you because there is no need to optimize your site to index
a particular set of keywords.

Obviously, some keywords are much more effective than
others are, but they will not cost you anything except time
to set-up your account in your pay-per-click bid. Of the
popular search engines that offer pay-per-click, one called
Overture provides an online tool that will give you the
data on how often particular keywords are entered into
their search engine. They also offer suggestions for
keywords after you enter a description of your site.

In pay-per-click, this written description is crucial. You
must understand that the object of your description is not
to generally attract visitors, but to be as specific as
possible so that only those visitors who are likely to buy
your service or product go to your site. You must use
expert marketing copy to guarantee that your description is
both precise and enticing to attract the most ideal
candidates to your site. This description is your most
powerful tool to insure that your bid is profitable.

Another essential element of pay-per-click advertising is
that you constantly monitor your bid. It is very important
that you bear in mind that the results of the top search
engines providing pay-per-click advertising, which are
Overture and Adwords Select, usually appear on other
popular search engines. Because of this, the competition
for top ranking is intense, and very often you will find
that the bidding price balloons too high for pay-per-click
to yield a profit.

If this happens, it is advisable to withdraw your bid on
that particular keyword and try another one. Remember: when
you pay too much per click to make a profit, you are in
essence losing the bidding war.

Since losing is not acceptable, you must have a plan in
place to closely track the effectiveness of your keyword.
It is advisable to monitor your keywords on at least a
monthly basis.

Not only is careful monitoring important, but the analysis
of visitor behavior can produce invaluable knowledge about
consumer motivation, habits, and trends. Expert monitoring
and consumer analysis is essential to your overall business
needs, and will also insure that your pay-per-click
campaign is a success.

Adwords And Adsense – What Do They Mean?

As an internet marketer you will come across both of the terms Adwords and Adsense at some stage. As a new internet marketer you will be learning many things and these words will probably not be familiar to you.

In fact it can even become quite confusing when there seems so much to learn that you may push these aside and put them in the ‘learn later’ folder.

Adwords and Adsense are both terms you will hear a lot of and given time you will possibly use both of them.

So what are Adwords and Adsense?

Let’s start with Adwords.

Adwords is the term used for advertising on Google. If you search for a word on Google you will get probably thousands of results come up with the first page displaying perhaps the first ten results. These results appear on the left side of the page.

You will also notice on the right side of the page there is a list that appears. This list is the Adwords ads that marketers pay to have displayed on the Google search engine.

These ads are also displayed within websites. You can choose whether to have your advertisement displayed on other people’s websites or only on the search engine results page.

The advertiser is charged each time someone clicks on his/her advertisement.

So if you are promoting your website or product, or an affiliate product, you may want to use Adwords advertising to reach customers for that website or product.

The cost of advertising with Adwords depends on the keywords you use for your ad. You place a bid on your keywords and your ad is then displayed in order by the highest bidder for that keyword. So if your keyword bid is the second highest your ad will appear in the second spot.

Keyword value will vary with each word and with different topics. Some keywords will need very high bids to achieve a high spot in the advertising displays.

Adsense is also a service offered by Google, but instead of you being the advertiser paying for the Adwords ad, you are the website owner who is being paid a percentage of that cost for having the ads displayed on your website.

Those same Adwords ads that are also displayed on websites, you can have on your website. You will get paid an amount every time someone clicks on one of the ads displayed on your website.

Google will automatically put ads on your site that relate to the topic of your website. You will need to place the advertisement blocks within your pages and select they styles and colors that best suit your site.

Then you just need to drive traffic to your site so that you will have people clicking on those ads.

Google Adsense can be a very good way to make some extra income if you set your site up correctly and gain traffic to your site.

Once you have this understanding of what both Adwords and Adsense are they can play a very large part in your online income achievements.

How To Avoid Getting Your Adsense Account Terminated

Google, being the undisputable leader in search engines from then until now, is placing a high importance on the quality and relevancy of its search engines. Most especially now that the company is public property. In order to keep the shareholders and users of its engines happy, the quality of the returned results are given extreme importance.

For this same reason, doing the wrong things in the Adsense and other forms of advertisements, whether intentionally or unintentionally, will result in a severe penalty, may get you banned and even have your account terminated. Nothing like a good action taken to keep wrongdoers from doing the same things over again.

So for those who are thinking of getting a career in Adsense, do not just think of the strategies you will be using to generate more earnings. Consider some things first before you actually get involved.

Hidden texts. Filling your advertisement page with texts to small to read, has the same color as the background and using css for the sole purpose of loading them with rich keywords content and copy will earn you a penalty award that is given to those who are hiding links.

Page cloaking. There is a common practice of using browser or bot sniffers to serve the bots of a different page other than the page your visitors will see. Loading a page with a bot that a human user will never see is a definite no-no. This is tricking them to click on something that you want but they may not want to go to.

Multiple submissions. Submitting multiple copies of your domain and pages is another thing to stay away from. For example, trying to submit a URL of an Adsense as two separate URL’s is the same as inviting trouble and even termination. Likewise, this is a reason to avoid auto submitters for those who are receiving submissions. Better check first if your domain is submitted already an a certain search engine before you try to submit to it again. If you see it there, then move on. No point contemplating whether to try and submit there again.

Link farms. Be wary of who and what are you linking your Adsense to. The search engines know that you cannot control your links in. But you can certainly control what you link to. Link farming has always been a rotten apple in the eyes of search engines, especially Google. That is reason enough to try and avoid them. Having a link higher than 100 on a single page will classify you as a link farm so try and not to make them higher than that.

Page rank for sale. If you have been online for quite some time, you will notice that there are some sites selling their PR links or trading them with other sites. If you are doing this, expect a ban anytime in the future. It is okay to sell ads or gain the link. But doing it on direct advertisement of your page rank is a way to get on search engines bad side.

Doorways. This is similar to cloaking pages. The common practice of a page loaded with choice keyword ads aimed at redirecting visitors to another “user-friendly” page is a big issue among search engines. There are many seo firms offering this kind of services. Now that you know what they actually are, try to avoid them at all costs.

Multiple domains having the same content. In case you are not aware of it, search engines look at domains IP’s, registry dates and many others. Having multiple domains having the same exact content is not something you can hide from them. The same goes with content multiplied many times on separate pages, sub domains and forwarding multiple domains to the same content.

Many of the above techniques apply to most search engines and is not entirely for Google only. By having a mind set that you are building your Adsense together with your pages for the human users and not for bots, you can be assured of the great things for your ads and sites.

Not to mention avoiding the wrath of the search engines and getting your Adsense and site account terminated altogether.

Affiliate's Guide To success

Affiliate work is a rewarding work at home profession. There are hundreds of companies and small businesses that will pay you a commission for selling their top selling products. There are 2 main ingredients for success. Successful affiliates learn networking techniques and apply them, and the most important ingredient of all is to have a positive attitude. If you have these two things, there are virtually no limits to what can be accomplished.

For anyone new, or old to the affiliate profession it can get extremely tough, Those tough times can make or break, the work at home affiliate. When times are rough it is sometimes easier to just throw up your hands, and walk away, but for the successful marketer there is no walking away, they stick with it, they are patient, and persistent. These people have started a mission and will not quit until they succeed. If this sounds like you than this profession may be just what you have been looking for.

For most people the most difficult times are seen, when they first start out. This is the time to be diligent. As a newbie you have to work much harder than the old timer who, has advertised their web pages and products for years. Most old timers can literally go away for a month or more, and come back to find that while they were gone they made sales. This is known to the industry as auto pilot. For the newbie it will be awhile until their site goes into auto pilot, but auto pilot should be something to shoot for in the affiliate based business.

For the time being there are many ways to get up, and running. The difficult task is deciding how, and where you wish to start. If you are considering trying your hands at being a affiliate. The first thing to understand is that a web page is nothing with out visitors. ( Note: If you do not have a web page there are affiliate groups that will give you links, and some will even build you a web page.) Your web page or landing page is like a store for the most part, if no one knows where you are, or what you have to offer you will not sell any products. The same thing applies to a web page or a landing page, You can have the best web page in the world, and it will not do you any good. YOU HAVE TO GET VISITORS! Don't make it a point to get just any visitor either! Make it a point to get the targeted visitors!

1.) Most importantly, when you join an affiliate group the first thing you need to do is, contact your sponsor. This is the person who is accredited with recruiting you as the new affiliate member. Make it a point to contact your sponsor, Introduce yourself ask for some start up tips. Remember starting up is the hardest thing you will ever have to do in this business, or any other business for that matter. From there it will get easier. So don't be afraid of asking for help. Get help where you can. Your sponsor will be more than happy to give you pointers.

2.) Most affiliate groups have a training course available to new affiliate members. Read them understand them and apply them. In those courses you will get tools, ideas, and links to promote their products. all of them will give you advertising pages or landing pages such as this one http://www.internet5kincome.com/empo.html You should use these pages to promote your products. These pages make things easier for beginners. It allows for the affiliate to concentrate on getting the link out to potential buyers. AKA Targeted Visitors.

3.) Now the time has come to decide on what roads to take. How will I market my new business? This all depends on who you are. If you have money to spend you can advertise anyway you would like to. You can advertise with Google Ad words, or other pay per click (ppc) services, place ads in magazines ect.... The point is there are limitless possibilities. For those on a budget you can advertise many different ways as well, you will need to be a little more creative in your advertising. Advertise through blogs, and forums, to writing articles, reciprocal linking is a good idea (exchanging links with other web sites.),promote through emails (No Spamming please) there are endless advertising methods for both kinds of affiliates. Here are a few free advertising links that I have used in the past to get me started. http://www.internet5kincome.com/freeads.html

4.) Once you have decided on how you will advertise try and get your links in front of people who are looking to buy your products. If I am promoting bass fishing equipment I need to find a captive audience. I need to get my link in front of those people who want to buy bass fishing equipment. There is no rocket science involved here! Ask yourself this question; where are my potential buyers? The beautiful thing about the Internet is, the answers are only a click away. Use the Search Engines for this example I would type in fishing blogs, forums, stores, bait shop, fishing story postings, derby ect... This would be a goof start to finding your customers.

Once your advertising starts flooding the Internet it is almost impossible to stop people from buying your companies products. You would have to shut down your web site, and turn off your links. The rewards can be fruitful, and with the right attitude, knowledge, and products, you will earn a piece of the Internet's great wealth.

Never doubt yourself, and never stop learning, never quit; and the internet income is yours for the taking! I am Michael Ditch from internet5kincome.com

A basic Internet marketing formula

There are so many different pieces and options in the world of Internet marketing that it can sometimes be difficult to maintain a well-informed “big picture” outlook. That's particularly true when you're just starting out, swimming in what feels like an infinite sea of IM info and ideas.

At its core, though, Internet marketing isn't really the complicated. There's a simple basic formula that underlies just about everything we do. After you strip away all of the bells and whistles and start looking at principles, there are three things in which we're really interested.

Traffic. In order to make sales, you need customers. In order to create customers you need prospects. Traffic is one of the “big three”, you can't make money if you aren't connecting eyeballs to your offers.

Conversion. After you get the traffic, you need to persuade those individuals to make a purchase or to take some other action that puts money in your pocket. That's conversion and nothing good happens without it.

Money. Every time someone makes a purchase or “does the right thing”, you need to make your money. This is the end goal of the whole pursuit. How much you make per sale or action matters.

What happens when we put it all together?

Traffic x Rate of Conversion x $/Conversion = Gross Profit

When you get down to brass tacks, it's pretty obvious how IM works!
